Fentanyl Addiction Rehabilitation at Sanctuary.
Opiates have been plaguing the streets for decades, and more recently, we’ve seen an abrupt and significant rise in the abuse of Fentanyl. Fentanyl is being manufactured outside of medical facilities and can be inconsistent in potency. Testing has revealed that 42% of the pills that underwent analysis contained over 2 mg of the drug, which can be a lethal dose. Parents, children, and loved ones are all at risk of dying while using Fentanyl – addiction does not discriminate. Recovery is the key to stopping the increase in deaths.
What is it?
“Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 80-100 times stronger than morphine. Pharmaceutical Fentanyl was developed for pain management treatment of cancer patients and applied in a patch on the skin. Because of its powerful opioid properties, Fentanyl is also diverted for abuse. Fentanyl is added to heroin to increase its potency or be disguised as highly potent heroin. Many users believe that they are purchasing heroin and don’t know that they are purchasing Fentanyl – which often results in overdose deaths. Clandestinely-produced Fentanyl is primarily manufactured in Mexico.
